Our goal, and the goal of our organization, is to see a mature church planted in an unreached tribal group. But what does it take to get there? First, we need to learn the language of the people. So we will be living among a remote tribal group with the intention of learning their language along with their culture. Also, we will be creating an orthography (alphabet) for this people group and teaching them to read and write their own language. Once we have gained fluency in their language we will begin to share the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ, but starting in Genesis. We believe it is essential to lay a firm foundation for the people so that they have a right understanding of who God is, how all things were created, how sin has affected our relationship with Him, and ultimately how His Son Jesus has made a way back into right relationship with Him.

Another large part of our ministry is Bible Translation. Once we have established an alphabet for the people we will begin translating the Word of God. We believe that once there are believers in the tribe with the Spirit indwelling them and the Word of God in their own language they will be well equipped to mature in their relationship with God. Again, our goal is to see a mature church in the location where we will be living. Not only a mature church, but a church that can function well independent of us, the missionaries. We know we only have, at best, 40 or 50 years of life to give to this work, but the Word of God is eternal. So Lord willing long after we are gone there will be a church in a remote part of Papua New Guinea still gathering to hear from God’s Word in their own language…and perhaps even reaching out to plant churches in other areas of Papua New Guinea! In all this we are reminded of Zechariah 4:6, “’Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit’ says the Lord of armies.” We are not enough for this work, but in dependence on His Spirit we are aiming for this goal!
